The planned Drive In Spectacular firework display is reported to be the largest in the country, and will take place at the East of England Showground on Saturday, November 7.
It’s being put on in collaboration with Peterborough City Radio (PCRFM), with a two-hour radio broadcast hosted by Kev Lawrence that will include dedications, competitions and the music to which the firework display is choreographed.
Although the event will be smaller than the Showground’s usual annual firework event, which attracts up to 15,000 visitors, the drive-in format will allow 1,000 tickets to be sold. With a potential of four or five people per vehicle, around 4,000 could be in attendance.
People will be able to drive onto the site at the 5pm start time and have their tickets scanned by stewards in full PPE. A flyer will be provided with details of the event, including a site map, the FM frequency to tune into and charity and sponsor information. Each car will then be directed to a parking space and, once parked, household members will need to stay within touching distance of their vehicle.
Every car will have a good view of the entirely aerial display, and attendees can choose whether to watch the fireworks from outside their vehicle or inside, where the noise is reduced and the cold can be kept out!
Event organiser Martin Allen, from Entertainment Effects Group Ltd, said: “We are really excited to be able to provide our choreographed display to the residents of Peterborough. The audience can view from a Covid-safe viewing area next to their car where they can shelter from the November weather if need be. With the unique element of having the radio broadcasting directly to each vehicle it will enable everyone to engage with the event and enjoy the stunning display.”
Tickets cost £25 per car, with some early bird tickets priced at £20, and VIP viewing area costing £35. These are sold online through driveinfireworks.uk.
