From Representation to Transformation: What Black History Teaches Us About Inclusive Futures

6 November @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm
Free

Join us for an insightful discussion with Dr. Karen Blay, Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Loughborough University followed by a student panel discussion on how we can build more inclusive communities and equitable futures.

Dr. Karen Blay is the Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at the School of Architecture, Building, and Civil Engineering, Loughborough University. She leads strategic initiatives and policies that champion EDI across staff, students, and research, including chairing the EDI Committee and embedding inclusive practices into curriculum design and recruitment.

As an active researcher and advocate, she has collaborated with government departments and industry partners to integrate EDI considerations into digital construction projects. Dr. Blay’s leadership extends to EDI advisory panels for IHEEM and CIOB, and she regularly shares insights through workshops, speaking engagements, and academic publications.

Her dedication to fostering inclusive environments is evident in her data-driven strategies, mentorship, and proactive development of equitable frameworks, ensuring that EDI principles inform not only policy but also tangible practices and research impact in the built environment sector.
